Sounds like a great idea!
I was thinking.. since the AKKI camp is twice a year, and only in Las Vegas (sucks for us on the east coast).. wouldn't it be an interesting idea to have regional camps? not seminars.. just closed AKKI gatherings, held in joint by groups in say a 300 mile area or so.. driving distance for everyone..
where everyone just gets together and works on the material they're working on. or exploring or sharing insights.. i figure, even if you have 3 schools or so get together.. itd be a great experience for many whov never seen people from other AKKI schools.. or people with smaller schools get more variety of people to work with..
only charge for the cost of wherever it may be, like at a banquet hall... maybe even hold a mini tournament. no trophies or medals.. maybe some certificates. those are fairly easy to make.. it would be a fun social event. thats the only downside to the camp, if you go to all the seminars (like I did this year).. its hard to remember and work on everything till you get it down. alot of structure, enough open training time.
Maybe have a seminar open to the public on what american Kenpo is.. and a seminar on what the AKKI is... what we're about, where we're headed.. that way we're spreading the art, as well as our own take on it.
im sure other groups of kenpoists could do the same thing if their main gathering or central hub is to far away as ours is.. eg Vegas and Evanston.
Sounds like a great idea!

Iam also an East Coaster and agree with you. I would like to get together with other kenpoist from the AKKI . Even if it isnt a seminar, just a day or two where we all get together share ideas and have a good time.

You guys should get together. You have many AKKI black belts out there readily accessible from Kathy Owen, Marlene Shear, Mike Guercio, Bruce Smith, Joe Ferracio, Tom Smith, Riza Noor (i am sure I am missing some so please forgive) not to mention their students who some are black belts. Nothing stopping you from getting together. If Mr. Mills lived back there, I would be doing something out here in the west. I fact I do. I get with my black belts regularly and Ryan Wheaton and his and quite a few others here in Utah. Even the Las Vegas Wild Bunch. We don't haven anything else going on between camps either. Just the way it is so we adapt, improvise, and overcome , right?

Mr. Connolly has a number of black belts. I can't name them all as I can only remember a few names.
Mr. Connolly did an awesome seminar at the last camp. He expounded upon the Centerline Set and used timing to move it beyond the block/strike concept and into the Freestyle aspect.
Anybody up for a gathering in Texas?
