If they're hitting very well....I suspect they are transitioning from a neutral bow to a forward.

I'm watching a baseball game; and I've noticed the body mechanics of hitting and pitching are the same as Kenpo. Some of the batters even look like they're hitting out of a nuetral bow.

Watch the torque of the pitcher, and how the pitching hand pulls the leg of the pitcher behind it. Then apply that concept to flashing mace.

I was once told that kenpo is actually just the study of motion, and that self-defense skills are a by-product of that study. The motion principles we study apply to any physical endeavor, including sports, so it seems only logical that others who need high-level movement skills would develop similar movements.

Power hitters definitely use the forward bow...I've never thought about pitchers good point.
Kenpo is all about the study of motion, how we move, how our attackers body reacts to different strikes to different parts of the body, and yes the self-defense is a by-product of the study of motion. Sounds like you been to one of my seminars. Kenpo is also the study of geomectrical shapes and mathamatical symbols. So often we get wraped up in the techinque with what weapon we need for what reason etc. If you look at just the motion of the techinque itself you will find similar motion in other techs. They may be on the inside or the outside of the body. Once you have found them you will be on your way to discovering master key techinques. Thats a $ 500.00 seminar LOL.
Deepest respect
OK. Now I'm just gonna get pissed. I've been on these danged boards for years now, pointing out how a solid inward hammerfist or overhand palm-heel/rake is best performed with the same mechanics and intensity of a pitcher, javelin thrower, NFL QB, etc. Now, it's new?
It's like Chapel going on about PAM's and BAM's for over a decade, until someone else posts YouTube video of the Parker Stomp, and all at once everyones lights go on...but they forget Chappy has been advocating for years before u-tube. Ah, well. What are ya gonna do. If you can't beat them, beat them.

Clear mind, clear movement. Mastery of the Arts is mastery over the Self. That in this moment, this motion, the thoughts, memories, impulses and passions that cloud the mind must yield to the clarity of purpose, and purity of motion.

Dave,
You know the possibility does exist that some of these folks haven't heard your position on these things before.
Chill out before I gotta pull you off the mound and bring in the closer!

Dr. Dave,
I cant see you playing in the corner of the sand box when all the toys are scattered all over the yard.
So I dun good, huh?
If I could have learned Kenpo first, I'd have a shot at the majors!
