Exclamation In search of some facts

Hi one and all, as these are quite times on the forum I would like to ask a question. I am in search of some facts about the student creed, who is the author. The one I am talking about is. I intend to develop myself in a positive manner and avoid anything that would reduce my mental growth or physical health. I intend to develop self-discipline in order to bring out the best in myself and others. I intend to use what I learn in class constructively and defensively to help myself and fellow man and never be abusive or offensive

I think this is a pretty standard creed the schools tailor for use in their school. I've heard different versions over the course of time. Our Kenpo school uses a modified version of the one you provided.

Sorry, I meant to say I think from what I know and found online it's a creed that is modified for different; studios, schools, dojos, etc. I do not believe that creed is a "Kenpo" specific creed, but more of a creed of budo spirit.

I've seen one on a TKD student's signature that was a lot like that one, but have only seen Ed Parker's Kenpo Creed ( I come to you with karate-my empty hands) at a Kenpo school-though I heard they did have others that weren't really used anymore.

I have not heard it but it sounds quite commendable.

These creeds are also with my studio (the only difference is we use the word "will" instead of "intend to"). I'm not sure who originally said/wrote them though. I was under the impression that Mr. Parker did, but these are of a universal nature that maybe they're just generic enough to not be ascribed with a specific person. I'll have to ask my instructor and also check with my Infinite Insights books.

I have heard that with each belt level there was a creed that went along with it. That could be one of them. I'm not one for creeds, though. We all choose our personal belief systems, and I don't subscribe to any but my own-even if it means I'll never get my next belt. But, I would never teach or train with those who lack basic morality.

The posted creed is not from the Ed Parker Lineage nor is it one of the many "belt pledges" found in the commercial curriculum.

"Knowledge speaks but wisdom listens." - Ed Parker Sr.

Thanks, Doc. It didn't really fit with the other things I've read on Parker.
