    Default Sept. Camp

So who's going to try and make the Sept. camp? I'm trying to save already and hope to be there. How could anyone miss Brother John and Brian discovering that AKKI kenpo works! LOL Hope to see you guys there.

Yeah... we'll be there! Probably myself, Brian and hopefully Jeremy Nelson from here in Wichita.
Man...I'm never gonna live down what Mr. Connolly said am I?

    This is gonna sting!

    Ah well.
It's like what Ben Franklin said: "That which hurts, instructs!"
    I'm gonna get 'instructed'

LOL, I'm gonna try and keep alive what Mr. Connolly said for as long as I can, it should keep me off the stage, or at least make my chances of not being demonstrated on better. I'll be out with my instructor and hopefully a couple of my students as well, it should be a blast. Haven't been to a Sept. camp in a couple years. And I'll bring an iceburg if you like, but I don't think it'll help. Ha. If it only stung!

It can be pricey... especially for those of us that travel further than two states away.
But if you Can make it, it's well worth it!

Let me remind everyone that the camp dates are:

    September 22nd, 23rd, and 24th

The camp will start on THR the 22nd and end SAT night the 24th.

I understand that traveling to Vegas is a hardship on some but let me provide some thoughts. Years ago I personally heard about what the Mills group was doing, but I didnt appreciate it until I experienced it myself and I saw with my own eyes. I am very much a visual learner and for me to experience first hand what many folks were doing was pricelesss on my journey. If you can make it I think you will have a priceless experience as well.

    Nail on the HEAD.
I've not gone for a while. Makes me sad. But the two times I have been able to make it were very very memorable. The first was in 99' when my best friend Sean tested for his Black. I watched the motion being exhibited there, the power and SNAP, the rythm and flow. I've been in the martial arts since I was a very young child. I've seen and done my fair share in the arts in that time, but never had I seen something that motivated me to WANT what these people were doing!! Then over the course of the rest of the camp I witnessed and received a great deal of warmth and what I can only explain as "Family feel" from, well....just about Everyone! ..... I was EXTREMELY hooked!!!!!!!!! RIGHT after Sean's test was over, I congratulated him and told him how proud I was to see my best friend doing so well... Then....while the Kiss of the Dragon was still warm in his belly...I IMEDIATELY asked him to hook me up with the instructor in Kansas, Mr. Taylor. He did so....and I've been Loving every second of it ever since!!! Sure the paths been bumpy, but it's been worth it!!!!

My next trip to Vegas was even more rewarding!!!!!! I got to test in front of the board/panel and got to actually speak to Mr. Mills. That was also a great experience. I've never met a man with more capacity to give and give and give and GIVE of himself like Mr. Mills does.

I've been longing to get back, but unable for various reasons.
    NOW....I'm going dang-it!!!!!

If you see a guy in Western Colorado, shaven head, with a Gi over his shoulder and his thumb out for a ride...

Give a brother a lift if you would.

I totally understand what you are talking about. This month marks my first year with the AKKI, and I have visited last Septembers camp and this last march's camp. I knew at the September camp that this is where I want to do for the rest of my life. I know there will be some hard times, and I know I will have to make a lot of sacrifices, but it will all pay off

    Thanks for the support

Well this will be my first camp, I have already gotten to train with a few good AKKI instructors and saw what they had to offer so I am very much looking forward to getting to the camp this year.

I haven't been to a Vegas camp in about two years, and kick myself in the butt every time it happens. Its usually due to finances, but I'll somehow find a way this Sept. Everyone there is friendly, approachable, and embodies the spirit of sharing. Plus I have to see Brother John and Brian get called up on stage. LOL

I'm seriously doing my best to be there this time.

It can get you down hearing from everyone what a blast they had and knowing you personally are almost standing still with your Kenpo development. It also causes a 'knock on' effect with your students.

I did once suggest to Mr Connolly that he switch to flying international routes so that he could touch down in England on a regular basis. (Remember John?) That'd help me.

I'm also trying to get a few of my students to make the trip as well, but as you'll appreciate, it's a long and costly journey for us. We're looking at trying for some sponsorship from local businesses and the city council.

    Thumbs up Re: Sept. Camp

I will definately be in attendance for the September camp. Every camp is like a visit to the Kenpo fountain of youth. My training is rejuvinated and where-as I feel like I'm learning something that changes everything the more I go the more I feel my core Kenpo getting stronger.

Thinking back to my first camp, seeing all the different instructors move, I felt like I was a million miles away from what they were doing. Now after a couple camps and really working the material I've picked up I feel like I can read the street signs to find my way.

If you can find a way to get out there GO!

Of course Les I have not forgotten you. If I ever get a chance to come over to England Ill be sure to let you know in advance and hopefully we can hook up.

On the bright side of things for all you folks in Europe trying to come to Vegas; your money goes along way changing over to the American dollar!!!!
