    Default AKKI School Patches

    Hey AKKI Members,

I know if you are going to the international camp this week, you are probably pretty siked up; me too.

Anyway, I wanted to know if anyone would trade school patches with me? I have a growing collection and have AKKI school patches from all over the world and would like to get as many as possible. Eventually, I will display them on my website.

If you can, bring one to camp, and I can trade you there.

Why would you want to do that?

Why collect patches unless you actually went to the those places?

Why buy stamps of famous people if you've never met them?

    It's about being a collector.

Sorry for not replying quicker. I don't get on as much as I used to.

Anyhow, different people collect different things for different reasons. For instance, some people collect baseball cards of players that they will never meet or watch play in person. Some may collect Marylyn Monroe or Elvis or Ed Parker stuff, and yet be so young that they were not even born when these people were alive. Others may collect autographs, and still others may collect dolls. Again each person collects what interests them, and each will probably have their own criteria on what and how they collect.

For me, I collect AKKI patches not because I have been to their studio but because I am a part of the AKKI family. I enjoy the different designs. In addition, I also feel more connected (in a small way) with other members, know that these patches mean a lot to their school, and yet, they are willing to share them with me. Several of the patches that I have acquired are from the Seniors and school that are overseas. I do not believe that I will probably be able to visit these schools, but I do have something from them to make a connection. Not a picture, but the School patch.

You may feel that it is necessary to visit the school, and that is OK. However, that is not the criteria that I use. That is the great thing about collecting, everyone can collect whatever and however they choose.

Thank for asking. Maybe we'll get to meet someday.

    Joseph

p.s. Do you have a school patch you might want to trade?
