    Default Where is everyone?

I just found this forum and there have been zero new posts from AKKI people in years. Are we dying out?

It would help if you stopped looking up, and looked straight ahead.

I like that!! thank you all for responding.

I must admit that I am glad a couple people responded. I have been searching online for other AKKI schools and there seems to be some but I thought there would be a lot more. I own a small school (25 students) north of Buffalo and I am blessed that my teacher, Mr Ferraccio is 40 minutes away so I can train whenever I want. I received my Kenpo black belt from another system and I honestly fell completely in love with the AKKI after I met Mr Ferraccio.

I have not had a chance to go to any of the camps yet but I plan to go to the next one and my goal is to find other AKKI practitioners to network with and talk discuss the art.

I certainly wouldn't correlate discussion forum involvement to livelihood of Kenpo or any specific group for that matter. Less posts just mean less posts. It's not just AKKI stuff. It's everything. Discussion forums can only live so long before it is viewed that "everything pertinent that can be discussed, has, and if you want further education on the matter, just use the search function". God forbid you start a new thread about a topic that was addressed or discussed 7 years ago. Likewise, don't dare to resurrect a thread last active years ago either. I'm definitely not slamming on KT specifically. Every forum goes through that. There is a ton of great people and information here at your disposal. I'd say dive in and help wake the place up. Become the change you want to see.
    Be safe,

Oh, and welcome to the forum by the way! I hope there'll be another camp out east here someday, last one was pretty good.
You'll find a crap ton of info on all the boards, much to chew over in your head and experiment with.

he is a great teacher and a good guy! I came over from another kenpo system and he could have been different but he was very welcoming and continues to meet me at odd hours so I can train. I teach at my school 4 nights and I have a normal day job so we end up meeting at 4am on a saturday! I will tell him you said hi.

I've since learned that the death notice of the AKKI may have been premature. Tina will tell as s it always does.

Be careful what you say, some may take it the wrong way.

Hmmmm....I don't know about that. I know of two, Synergy in Honeyville (north of Ogden) and Arrowhead in Salt Lake. There could be more but these are the two that stand out.

If you want to consider United Studios of Self Defense as kenpo they probably have the most, there are about a dozen USSD locations between the Ogden area and Provo area.

Bobby Lawrence has about 8 studios in that area too but I'm not sure I would consider him kenpo anymore.

There are several studios that I would consider under Tony Martinez although there is no official organization, it is more of an affiliation out of respect.

Mills Crenshaw as far as I know doesn't really do much with his kenpo anymore, but if he does it would be with Tony Martinez.

Actually some of the ussD went out I think the one in Layton went under the one in Ogden went with the Z ssd but the Bobby Lawrence does have a studio in Layton.
