Default American Masters & Champions of the Martial Arts

This is another product from Rising Sun Productions, but unlike the New Galdiators this one does not deliver the goods.

It has over 100 Masters and Champions on 2 DVD's and 95% of it is crap. They spend more time on Billy Blanks than ED parker, Robert Trias and Wally Jay put together. Do not waste any of your good money on this unless you are looking for some pretty coasters to set your drink on.

A little thin form my tastes, but the pictures would be nice until the condensation from the glass distorted them.

Not if you keep them in the shrink-wrap. They are shrink-wrapped right?

The case that the DVD's came in was super shrink wrapped I almost used a sword to get it open, but each individaul DVD was not wrapped.

This is the project that SGM Parker and Elvis Presley started working on back in the 70's? After Elvis passed away, the project was put on hold (at least that is what I have read), then the project was started up again in the 80's. That is probably why so much Billy Blanks. Wasn't Parker involved with Blanks Budweiser karate team in the eighties. That would explain all of the focus on Blanks. Whoever finished producing it probably just threw together what he had and released it.

This is not the project Parker & Elvis started together that was The New Gladiators which was excellent. This is Emil Farkas baby, and it definitely has a dirty diaper.

Question Re: American Masters & Champions of the Martial Arts

What is the problem? I understood it to be a overall look at the martial arts in the US, not so?

There is nothing to it. It is all fluff. After seeing The New Glasdiators i was expecting a lot more form Rising Sun Productions. The few people I know who bought tis DVD the same time I did are just as disappointed. A couple people had to send their backs becasue it wouldn't play on any DVD players.

I've noticed the same compatibility problem with The New Gladiators. Their DVDs aren't the type you get off the shelf at the video store; the kind made with production equipment. They're made with recordable DVDs using probably home equipment, and who knows what software they use to encode the video.

I'm in agreement that the 'American Masters' video is disappointing and has a lot of fluff and boring footage.
