    Default Family Tree-Resources

Do you think it would be a good idea to add a "Family Tree" to our "Resource" section?

Not for me, since I'm just a stump.

Just kidding. Sure, might prove useful for those who are actually part of a tree- and for those of us that want to know where they are coming from.

There are things that are worth knowing for their own sake, worth finding for the pure joy of discovery.

Why not? If it's out there somewhere on that crazy interweb thing, we might as well have it here where its safe.

I think it's a good idea. Not sure how something like that would be maintained and organized here, but if it could stay up-to-date, I think it would be an invaluable resource.

    Great point,

The tree isnt up to date now, and how many of us remember every student we have taught and the dates we have taught them ? Some people say they belong to a branch even though they may have had only one or two months with that teacher. The tree branches were easy to see in the early days, but there are a lot of branches now, and some of them have been pruined.

Mine has too, but it was incorrect which prompted me to ask the question. I would trust that KT would keep it more accurately. It would involve a lot of work though.

To help keep it simple it should probably only include those promoted to black and those that they themselves promoted to black, etc, etc.

Interesting idea, love to have it. I'll check with some programmers on some options.

I was under the impression that that's what a family tree was. Our class has had a jillion people come through it, but only eight black belts come out of it.

Clear mind, clear movement. Mastery of the Arts is mastery over the Self. That in this moment, this motion, the thoughts, memories, impulses and passions that cloud the mind must yield to the clarity of purpose, and purity of motion.

I agree wholeheartedly. I wouldn't expect my name to be on the list (at least until I reach black belt one day), but it would be good to trace history and see how many degrees one kenpoist is separated from another.

What would be really cool is if the tree was presented in a dynamic database-driven form, and not just a long static list of names that one has to search. So, for example, perhaps one could just enter the name they are looking for in a search screen, and the database would return that person, who they trained with, who promoted him/her to subsequent degrees of black, and who he/she has promoted to black if any. Biographical info would be lovely too. I'm certain that something like this would be costly (how much I don't know), but I think it would make for a more elegant and robust solution.

Jus my .02, I'm sure that Mr. Hubbard is way ahead of me on this. I assume there would also be some system of checks and balances as well, to make sure info is accurate?

What if it were set up so that a teacher or a representative for that teacher could add their own black belts? Administrators would obviously be able to add people as well.

    Question Re: Family Tree-Resources

Or, since KT is having financial problems, we could make it a Supporting Membership/Gold Key benefit, which I think is fair considering the resources that KT is storing already (for FREE) such as the Photo Gallery & the resource library, not to mention material from Ed Parker, Jr.
