As far as kenpo videos I think Jason Buggs has one of the best kenpo vid sites out there at www.houstonkenpo.com it would be very hard to top his effort or take away from it to be honest! And he is good people and a fellow Kansan

I agree Bugg has done an excellent job of presenting Kenpo vid's as well as other Systems and Arts.

Who wants to take anything away from him? I'm hoping we can cross polinate a bit, or at least cross link. My idea is a place we (the KT members) can share our own clips. Jasons got some great stuff there, but, it's not Jason movin.

In fact, I'm going to try and dust off my own kenpo shoes and see if I can get a clip or 2 of me up. It's only pre-yellow material, but hey, it'll be good for at least a chuckle.

    Hunter,

For some odd reason, my computer won't allow me to view any of the clips off Jason's website. Whenever I open clips elsewhere (e.g. Larry Tatum's tip of the week), no problem.

Any ideas as to how I can open them?

    Thanks in advance.

I think it's a great idea; I also think we should have the same ground rules as the "Members in Motion" area of MT (constructive criticism only, no trash talking, etc).

If you're still considering adding video I have some clips that you could use. It's definately not the greatest, poor image quality and sloppy technique, could be used as an example of what not to do.

Video is always good. I'm just way behind. Running 4 forums, a business and this past 2 weeks helping my sister renovate her new house is really got me running ragged.

I know how you feel, just let me know if there's anything I can do.

Sounds like you need a vacation... someone should steal your modem for a week

I could use one, thats for sure. Think the last real vacation I had was 6 years ago. Other than an occational day off, I've been working pretty much 7 days a week since 2002.

This was a great idea. A members in motion section is a big hit on MT, and would probablt be just as big of hit here.

The only hard part would be to keep any predators at bay.

Constructive criticism is fine, but "you are dong it wrong because X instructor does it this way" does nothing to promote unity.

It is a double edged sword like most of things we do in the martial arts. Videos can really help out some people, but it can also cause some grief at times because some peopel feel the need to put others down to build themselves up, but most of those people are already sitting in the garden,

    I like the idea.

There is a chance that someone may get their feelings hurt though. It's one thing to post text, but it's another to allow people to view you and then to critique what you've done.

Personally, I don't care. I can take constructive criticism and am able to ignore (to some degree anyway) personal attacks. Kenpo is supposed to be all about the analyzation of motion and its effects. What better way to analyze motion than be seeing it? =)

....wouldn't that take up quite a bit of bandwidth though?

I think it would be good to have a topic to be discussed via video. Maybe the Technique of the month could be then translated to video and discussed in the forum. Or even a specific Video forum with a specific discussion, similar of that to Mr. Ryer's OTM. Words can convey meaning but seeing things in motion might light some cobwebs.
