Hello all,
Just wanted to stop and and do the intro thing. I am new to this site, haven't lurked much, and new to Kenpo. My background is in TKD, Kuk Sool Won and Youn Wha Ryu. Actually haven't even signed up for Kenpo yet. I am looking at joining a Kenpo 5.0 school. I've sat in on a few classes and really like what they did, and I really like what I see on the web concerning the 5.0. I figure I will be crosstraining at an MMA gym or a Judo club as well.
Any other opinions out there on Kenpo 5.0. Obviously I have already formed mine, but would like to see what other Kenpoist are thinking about it. Appreciate any input or advice!

Hey Dark Horse-
Mr. Speakman's 5.0 material does look interesting. I've seen some videos and talked to my friend Amy about it. But really, the best thing anyone could do to check it (or ANY system) out is to go an experience it for yourself.
If you were to make connection with Mr. Garza.....he's steer you right!! He's a highly skilled, VERY experienced Kenpoist! It'd be well worth your time to get in touch with him! As he's going to be moving to your area soon and opening up a class....you'd get the opportunity to be one of his first students...which would mean that you'd get a lot of his undivided attention and be in on the ground level of his school...which is sure to be a successful one.

Hey!
This is Ben from the class in Springdale. I'm glad to see you've liked what you've seen thus far. Mr. McLaughlin is real easy to get to know and has really helped me get kick-started (no pun intended) in martial arts and Kenpo. I was really impressed with your kicks, especially the roundhouses. They had a nice "pop" on the pads.
Mr. McLaughlin has also studied TKD and juijitsu, and he shows a little of that from time to time as it applies to what we're doing. I think it would be interesting to get a some tidbits from Kuk Sool Won and Youn Wha Ryu as well.
Welcome to the class, and here's to seeing you on Tuesday!
Ben

Thanks all for the warm welcome. It's great knowing we have such a friendly community here.
Mr Garza, I would love to check out your classes, and you obviously have had a great impression of everyone here. Unfortunately, Little Rock will be a long drive for me. Sorry, I should of clarified when I said NW Arkansas! I am in Bentonville/Rogers area. That being said, I would love the opportunity to get together when we can and learn from you. It is possible that next school year I will be taking some classes in Little Rock and will be in the area one weekend a month. Friday and Saturday I will be booked solid with studies, but may be able to train some Saturday nights or Sunday evenings. Let me know, hopefully we can stay in touch!
Ben, great to see you here! I should be there tomorrow as long as my Dr. appointments don't run too long. Looking forward to a great workout!

Dark Horse,
Yes sir. I'll be getting up to Springdale one of these days.
In fact there's a Tae Kwon Do tournament on November 17th (Saturday) in Springdale, that I will be attending.
I should be at the tournament all day. I'm pretty easy to recognize, I look just like my picture, except uglier in person...
I'm getting to know Arkansas and I'm learning that it's a pretty big place, not as big as Texas, but pretty big...
Thank you for your kind words (and Mr. Marshall and Brother John)...![]()

Welcome to KT and hope everything goes well with your training. Used to live in Fayetteville for a while as a kid. Liked Springdale as well when I was there. Have family that live in Benton as well. Love the Ozarks with a passion, such a gorgeous place!
Once again welcome...

Greetings and welcome to KT! I have no experience with Kenpo 5.0, but regardless of the system, if you like what you see and the instructor can pass on knowledge well...go for it!
