    Default Sensei

    Hello:
As I enter my 40th year in what we once called Chinese Kenpo I feel the need to communicate with fellow Kenpo students. I live at 4,500 feet in the cascade mountains at Amatsu Tatara where I practice my art everyday. In 2008 I will be opening the compound to other students of Kenpo. I invite comments on what a good Kenpo camp should be like.
Although I owned and operated kung fu schools in California, Arizona, and Montana I have sold them and become soured on the number of martial art masters and the number of kenpo students who claim to have studied with Ed parker not to mention tournaments that are more like a game of tag.
In short I built my own Dojo in the mountains and cut all ties with kenpo and the martial art world content to sharpen the knowledge I gathered over four decades.
Now, I am ready to work on my bad attitude and communicate, see what martial arts have evolved...or devolved into.

Welcome. It'll be interesting to see what you think after getting back in touch.
Be careful what you say, some may take it the wrong way.

Judging by your "greeting" I suspect you will be waiting awhile. Based on my 35 years in the arts, I think I'll pass.

Sounds more like a kenpo unabomber..... but I could be wrong, posts that don't come across so.... aloof, might help.

Welcome to our "Kenpo world". I too am one of the old ones with much time in Kenpo. I see many things I don't like ,but many that i do. Even though Kenpo has weathered a lot of storms ,it has still survived and will continue to as people like us will make sure that it does.

I envy you to have a mountain"Kenpo retreat". Sounds great.

I look around and see some very good 5th and 6th Degree Black Belts out there and I am sure that in the future they will become the new leaders of Kenpo. There are several right here on KenpoTalk. I know you will spot them right away. Didn't take me long. I think our future will be safe with them. I have even talked to a few telling them they are our future and got very humble replies from them. Yes Kenpo will Make it ,We have them.

    I am Most Respectfully,
    Sifuroy
