Hi all
My name is Lloyd De Jongh, I am a long-time adherent to Mr Parker's martial arts teachings, and consider myself comfortable with my knowledge of Kenpo. I have worked in the security field for some time, and have learned to trust both the skills and knowledge I gained from my instructors in the art.
I have found there is wide benefit from Kenpo's analytical process, and I know it accelerates both learning and ability. I was a student under Michael Thomas and Leigh Petersen in Cape Town, South Africa. They were students under Mr Graham Knowles, who was at one time (so I am told) a direct student of Mr Parker, and was called his "little bodyguard". I can't confirm this, however I have seen a couple of photos of the two of them together. Some years ago he moved back to the US and became Paul Mill's representative in Virginia, though I don't know his current status.
I trained for almost 10 years, though sadly we were very isolated Kenpo-wise. I am currently in Dubai, and would be keen to meet and Kenpo people out this way.
Regards
Lloyd

Wow! That would be fantastic! I'm dying to meet up and train with a couple of good guys (or girls). We had a couple of kick-ass women in my old school, which is still running strong in Cape Town under the eye of Marc Smith, the black belt student of Michael Thomas.
I've cross-trained extensively, but Kenpo is always my "home", it's the lens I see everything through.
If you have a look through the 2 web sites I list in my profile I'd be glad to share that knowledge with you should you visit here.
I hope to meet you before long then and share knowledge and learn. Thanks Brad.

Hi Amy. You have a great web site, I've been looking through it and read through your blog. What was interesting to me about Kenpo is that it made the more aggressive guys in our school appreciate what it means to be easy-going, now that they had studied violence and seen what the end result could be, and they all became calmer, more relaxed individuals. It really can influence people in positive ways. Does anyone relate to that?
I remember where I became almost a "true believer"I was 19 (?), I'd been studying Karate for years, and while I love its movements and the forms I was blown away by the Perfect Weapon. I was disillusioned with more traditional systems after that.
I'll do some reading and see where I can chip in. Thks
WELCOME Lloyd!!
I'm glad you've come to KenpoTalk. I think you'll find this forum a useful means of discussing Kenpo with MANY other knowledgable practitioners. I know I have.
I'd love to hear about your experiences in Kenpo as well as in the security field.
I look forward to your contributions.
