    Default Intro from Rusty

I just realized that I posted without introducing myself. Pretty rude, EH?(That was for all of our kenpo friends in the U.S. Lol) Anyhoo, my name is Russell and I have been studying kenpo karatEH on/off since '82. I have trained in Chinese Kenpo w/R. Chinnick, American Kenpo(Tracy's) w/ J. Foster, Kanzen Kenpo w/A.Reiz. I am now training w/P. Maguire in the Parker/Planas lineage. After all this time, I feel that I have finally found the real deal. Not to say that I didn't learn anything useful in the past, I just prefer EPAK that is all. Thank you to all who replied to my post. I look forward to hearing from more of you. I know you are out there. Jamie, I will try to get in touch with you soon. Thanks again everyone. Salute. Rusty

    Hi Rusty!

Welcome! So glad you're here. Jamie is a good guy to get ahold of. Rob is somewhere up in your country as well.

This is a great group to learn from and share with and we're glad to have you!

    Hi Russell,

I did a couple of private lessons with Ralph Chinnick in the mid 1980s (and had a bunch of friends that studied under him but left). I have also studied briefly with Joe Foster in the early 1990s. While I left his school for my own reasons, Joe's Kenpo was fantastic, even though very few people like to admit it. I really think he should have stuck with American Kenpo, because he had a lot of potential with it. Adam Reiz had attended one of my seminars several years ago, so I know him as well. Pat Maguire received his black belt the same day that I did, back in August of 1990 and both of us started Kenpo in the early-to-mid 1980s.

You can't go wrong being in the Huk Planas line. Huk is awesome.

Larry Tatum is my instructor, and it is an honour, believe me.

Welcome to KenpoTalk Rusty. I too have bounced through some of the same places you have and as long as you have learned from it you are doing alright.
