    Default kenpo in portland, or?

    hi everyone:

i've recently relocated to portland, oregon and i'm looking for a place to train. my previous kenpo experience is limited (about a year in chicago). however, i really enjoyed the brutal workout and study of the art. I WANT TO GET BACK TO IT!

anyone have any recommendations for hard training schools in the portland area?

    many thanks -
    sbw

Hi. Yes, welcome. Call those schools and check them out and if you don't like them, tell them the school is too far and ask if they have any recommendations.

This is a studio out in Hillsboro, and I believe a couple of members on this board attend it. A had a friend visit the studio while on vacation and he had nothing but good things to say.

thanks everyone for your suggestions. i have a lot of poking around to do to find the right place for me to train.

amylong suggested that i say a little about myself.... so....
an explanation of my username will likely fill in the blanks.

savblkwof = saviano's black wolf kenpo
my introduction to and entire experience (so far) with kenpo has been through my friend and instructor chris saviano. he owned and operated saviano's black wolf kenpo, a small school in the chicago area until several months ago. he has a very demanding day job and simply couldn't continue running the school in his off-hours (read: no off-hours).

i truly enjoyed my time at saviano's black wolf kenpo. we always: utilized every minute (literally) of our training sessions, maintained a rigid focus on the realities of self-defense, and pushed our minds/bodies hard.

i should make a distinction between saviano's black wolf kenpo and saviano's white tiger kenpo. the latter is the long-time school of master tom saviano (chris's uncle and instructor).

thanks again everyone. keep throwing out the suggestions if you think of anything new.

Chris is a good guy and I'm glad you had some training time with him. It's unfortunate that he had to give it up for his job. Priorities change in life all the time.
