    Default Newb.

    New here, obviously.

I train under Scott Padgett in TN. Our kenpo is of Emprado/Dacasos lineage, which I guess technically should make it Kajukenbo, but it's not (really!).

I trained fairly prominently for two years during my teens, but quit for various reason. Recently returned to art and am attempting to recover lost ground. It's not been as much of an uphill battle as I thought it would be at first, just gotta lose the gut.

A 10 yr. break? Wow. I took six and I thought that was roughly FOREVER.

I'm so glad to be back that I'm never leaving again.

Welcome to KT. It'll all come back to you. Muscle-memory.

I was amazed at how much I really did remember after so long.

Darryl (my instructor), was saying, "Come on, Amy. I said (blah blah technique)."

I replied, "Six years gone; two weeks back. Give me a break."

I'll bite, how are you an Emperado/Dacascos lineage and not be kajukenbo?

It's straight up kenpo. Nothing else mixed in. I'm not 100% sure on the details of how it all got hashed out. Our breed most resembles the Tracy style, honestly. I've seen the promotion certs from Dacascos which state that my sensei's sensei was promoted to black belt solely in Chinese Kenpo, not Kajukenbo. As to how it all went down, i'll have to ask for more details.

So why doesn't his bio list Al Dacascos anywhere on it if he studied under him?

And he took a Judo gold? In 2003? It wasn't in the World Championships, which event was it?
