    Default No Longer Lurking

Hi all, I 've been lurking for quite awhile and decided to come out of the shadows. I began taking American Kenpo about 3 years ago at a ripe old age of 50. I've enjoyed learning a lot of new things. One of my goals is to not be one of those old ladies that can't defend themselves from young punks. I've gotten to a level where my fitness level is becoming an issue and thus my new year's resolution has been to lose weight and get fit. It's coming along slowly.

    Welcome aboard!

Welcome Lauren. After three years I'm sure you're on your way to showing any punk that though you may appear defenseless, you certainly aren't.

On fitness, I do run and lift weights, but I must say, increasing the intensity and amount of time I spend working on forms and techniques as well as stepping up sparring, caused me to really burn calories fast. I dropped about 8 pounds in about 2 weeks after stepping it up a notch or two in my training. Just goes to show that kenpo is a work out in itself when you want it to be.

I'm with Camey - just stepping up my intensity helped me lose 10lbs.
BTW, Welcome to the boards!!! We're glad to have you here.
