Question Why would a School change Names of Moves

I hold a BlueBelt and I'm training for my GreenBelt in Tracy's.
I was checking out different Tracy's School Sites and came across 1 school's names for GreenBelt. All the names for the moves where different from the one's that I know and different then all the Tracy's school's site that I looked at, and even different then Mr.Tracy's Website. I was just wondering how that school could change the names of the moves for Greenbelt. I was wondering if they are just named different and same moves or are they different completely and if they are how could that be.
I thought Tracy's schools all taught the same moves.

Some schools may be a hybrid of systems. They'll call themselves whatever the primary one is....don't ask me why this is done, as I think it only confuses the students when the seek to further themselves

    Hi Ken,

If you don't mind me asking, which website were you referring to specifically?

It looks like a condensed list, they are all Tracy names and while I haven't examinined it carefully, it looks like variations and techs have been dropped. The reason green looks so different is that it is pulling techs from higher than you have been taught. Not that big a deal really.

The site you speak of is Tim Golby's. Mr. Golby is a 9th degree black belt in the Tracy System, and the lists of techniques he uses are from a previous time. At some point, I believe in the early 80s, the order and number of techniques for the different belt levels were changed. Some techniques were dropped from being "named" and instead became variations of other techniques. Mr. Golby chose to continue teaching the same techniques and orders that he had been teaching, and as far as I know, that decision was made with the full support of Al Tracy.

Also, it should be noted that the re-ordering of the technique lists was done in order to teach most of the techniques before the katas in which they are performed, not because of technique difficulty. In other words, the current system allows for easier learning of the kenpo katas, but Mr. Golby's curriculum is still Tracy's Kenpo.

To clarify, I don't believe it is the names of the techniques that have been changed, but rather the order in which they are taught.

The moves you have seen are all real.

Only the names have been changed to protect the innocent.
