    Default Reputation System Installed

I've activated the forums Reputation System for member use.

Now, before anyone groans and mentions the PITA they can be, let me outline the way KT's system is setup:

    Points:
    * You can hit for 1 point Per Year of membership. Been here 3 years? You get 3 point hits.
    * All members and staff hit the same way.
    * All Rep is public, meaning no "anonymous dings".
    * Adding a reason is optional.
    * Supporting Members can hide/disable it.

Everyone starts with 10 points, "User is on a distinguished road" and the rest is up to you.

To answer a few other questions:

Abuse of this system is the same as abuse through PM or email. If you have a problem, let us know and we'll deal with it.

Yes, flaming through rep will earn IC points and see action taken. Flaming period is bad.

No I can't 'force' anyone to explain why they agreed/disagreed.

Yes, if it becomes a royal PITA I'll take it out again, but I doubt it'll be a problem with the high quality folks we have here.

To use it, click on this image by a persons post.

You can only do it once per day per person per every 20 people.

So, if I repped Rob, I'd have to rep 19 other people b4 I can rep him again. Helps keep people from doing rep-wars.

I'm a little retarded here: What exactly is the point of this?

Can you ding someone positively or is this just a 'I have a problem with you' thing?

You start with 10 and get one more for every year and then that's it?

    Can you earn more?

If all your thingys are gone, then what?

    Splain please.

You start with 10 rep points. At various other point levels is a 'score' lets say. Or title, or cute saying, etc.

Each time I 'rep' you, your score will increase or decrease according to my power to effect you (currently 3 for me, you have 1 point of power per year of activity).

    Still not getting it.

And where is it in the user CP?

I'm sure it will become more clear after a time. Right now though, I still don't get it. Sorry.

I think I've been hit in the head too much.

Actually, I don't quite see how it works, either ... or why it's needed, for that matter. Maybe I just won't worry about it ...

Wow. I already have 73 points. Does everyone else have that too? Or is it just because I'm everybody's favorite?

Nah, everyone starts at 10. I tagged you for 3 points.

If you hover your mouse over the dots, you can see the 'saying' associated with your level, and see the point count in your USERCP.

I've set it up this way so people can give an additional means of feedback. It's intended to be fun, so I'm hoping we can avoid some of the headaches other sites have run into.

I've got some fun ideas that tie into this, if it works out, to implement down the road.

I, of course, was merely saying that to get everyone running to look at their points and wonder how I got so many when they only have 10. lol.

I still don't get it, but eventually perhaps I will.

And Dan, you're welcome for any pointers I can give you to help make your life easier.

I've been playing with the reputation thingy. It's kinda fun.

Since this question has come up, I'll state the answer here: When you click the symbol of the scale in the right hand corner of each post, you get an option of either agreeing or disagreeing with their post.

And then you get a chance to make a little note.

I've been having fun doing it.

It's like a private way of saying 'thanks' (or again, to name-call if you're not very mature).

    So play with it people!!!

One of the reputations is blue, whereas the others have a green dot (on the left). What does the blue dot mean?

If green is positive and red is negative, then blue is......?
