Default Experimental Feature: Importing Threads from MT

As an experiment, I've setup a 2 way flow of threads between MartialTalk and KenpoTalk. If this works as I hope, a select number of additional sites may be added to the mix.

What happens is that we are pulling a couple of topics over from MT, and they are doing the same from us.

You can view the thread here, and there.
You can reply here using your KT account.
If you have an account on MT, you can reply there.

It is our hope that this will allow us to expand our active membership and content, while continuing to offer one of the best and most professional kenpo sites possible.

Comments, concerns, complains and congrats all appreciated

    Sounds good to me!

But, where do I find a list of the Bots, or links? Once they roll off the most recent list, they're gone. Or, more likely, I'm overlooking something obviouse.

Hit New Posts for the new stuff, or look in the Kenpo From Other Boards forum, located under Kenpo General.

Sounds good. It will make looking at MT move more quickly -- I can just pay attention to the non-Kenpo stuff there.

    Non-Kenpo? Yes, I said it.

Just out of curiosity, Bob, has this new experiement boosted activity here on KT? (not including the bot posts and replies to them) Or is it too soon to tell?

So far, I'd say theres a small boost. The threads on both sites are getting read, getting some comments. A few familiar faces moving more between sites. But, it's hard to say.

Right now, MT is exchanging threads with 3 sites, with 12 total planned. KT is only swapping with MT, but theres a few more planned, once various details get worked out.

One thing to remember, since all the sites have different posting patterns, and we don't want to bombard KT with threads, we're only pulling a couple a day over and weeding out a few duplicates. We're not grabbing everything, so there is still good reason to check both sites out in full.

I like to spend time on both sites, and I'm very glad that you're trying to keep the cross posts to a minimum.

I was just wondering if it (the cross posting) had generated more hits, more members online and new (unrelated) threads. Just curious.

Anywhoo I think this a pretty cool idea, I had some doubts at first, but I think it's coming off quite well. Much respect to you and many thanks.

(oh and I am working on renewing my supporting memberships for both here and MT paypal and I are having a slight dissagreement at the moment)

If you see an imported topic that you already know to exist here on KenpoTalk. Please do not post on, it will be noticed by myself or one of the other staff members and we will move it tot he trash bin. If people do start replying to the imported thread we have to move your replies to original thread before we can move the import to the trash bin.

Or, hit the RTM button to give the mods a heads-up that such a duplicate exists.

    The what?

I cleaned the coffee and fuzz off my keyboard, and still can't locate anything remotely like that.

Never mind. I probably don't need to know... too much information, can't quite get it, ... the urge to hit this thing is: overwhelming !!!.

The Report To Moderator button is the Exlcamation Mark you see at the top of each post. By clicking it it sends a PM to all the moderators about the duplicate thread or any other problem you see in a thread.
