In the current era we find ourselves in, the "snowflake social justice warrior" would find this conversation of women wearing the knot on one side and men wearing the knot on another highly sexist and grossly offensive.

They would also probably end up protesting outside your dojo.

As long as they stayed outside.

    Awwww Jdinca...

Can't we devolve this thread into a firestorm of political and social lambasting.....

You remind me of the cop who told me that I'm not allowed to put wedges into the derailleurs at the train yard...

    No fun at all..

This thread has been useful to see some of the different traditions out there. When i first started training in Kenpo we bowed when interned the dojo, bowed before getting on the work out mats/floor. We would site the Kenpo Greed before starting class after bowing in(salutation). The uniforms we was aloud to wear was either a traditional GI color of white or black or a black Kung Fu style uniform. If a person wore the GI the belt was tied in the front and not to the sides only if wearing the Kung Fu uniform we would tie the sash to the side. At this school we was also taught some of the history behind Kenpo and were it originated from even though it was not part of the belt test. I trained in the 24 system.

I'm now in the process of opening my own Kenpo school. I will continue to teach and train in the 24 system, my student will be in black GI's until black belt then they can wear a different color of their choosing.
