    Default Kenpo Success Story

I just finished up our children's class and had to share this story.

Today was promotion day at the studio, the children have worked long and hard to earn their new ranks. One in particular was beaming when we entered with his Parents. They were also smiling from ear to ear.

I said you must be very proud, John has worked hard. They said yes we are, he defended himself today in the school yard.

Aparantely a "bully" attacked him with a right grab, left hooking punch and he blocked both attacks then assumed a neutral bow and said leave me alone. The bully ran away.

He told me he thought about doing Delayed Sword and Sword of Destruction but was afraid his teacher would be mad at him if he attacked back.

John is 11 years old and just earned his yellow belt today.

Thanks for letting me share this story.

    Salute,
    PARKER - HERMAN - SECK

    Okay, now that's totally great.

He should get some kind of special patch or something. Maybe a star for defending himself, then using his words to de-escalate the situation.

Good for him. He's had some good training.

    Give yourself a star too.

That is a great idea. Century has some great crests, such as the Rising Star ,or Outstanding Dedication, or the ever popular star as Amy suggested.

I recently had a 8 yr old student cut 10 inches of hair off for Locks For Love which makes wigs for cancer patients. It was such a touching guesture on her part that when she came in to class, I gave her a school crest to show my appreciation for what she had done for less fortunate people.

Outstanding! Amazing display of discipline for an 11 yr old... not to mention intelligence. I bet you're grinning ear to ear as well.

If I was the attacker (just hypothetically), I would have ran away fast too!

I am very proud. He is a dedicated student and has shown great improvement since starting with me (he is a former TKD student).

On a side note his Sister tests for her yellow on Thursday.
