Question There are no such things as stupid questions. . . 'cept for this one.

Hopefully I can ask this without looking too much like an idiot but I can't find the info online.

    1. What is the address Ed Parker's pasadena studio?

    2. Is it still there?

    3. Is it still running?

I am visiting that area at the end of the month and thought it would be a kick to track the studio down (if my wife will let me).

Any info will be highly appreciated.

It is there, but it is no longer a Kenpo school. I think it was 1705 E. Walnut, Pasadena, Ca. You can find several of Mr. Parker's seniormost Black Belts still in Pasadena, and some have schools right around the corner from the old School.

You're kidding me! There can't be another system being taught there! That's blasphemy!! We should start a campaign to raise money to buy it back and turn it into a "Kenpo" museum. I'm dead serious. If all organizations got behind it, it could happen.

Hey I am all for it, but who would be incharge of something that big?

I doubt Ed Parker Jr. would want to pursue it. Can't say I blame him after what I've heard about all he's been through. Not sure..... not enough seniors get along to agree on someone I'm sure. It would take a lot of planning and thought just to get it started. Hmmmm......

You would have to buy out the business, then the property.

A viable successful martial arts school with several hundred students wouldn't be cheap. Let alone the property and building. You are talking millions to get it done.

I think it sucks too that its a non kenpo school but the spirit of Kenpo lives in each of us not in a fixed place.

This is very true, and event if we cold get it done who would work there and etc. It is a great thought though.

The sucky part is they still have the big sign up out front. Had it covered for awhile with their own canvass banner, but have since let it stand on it's own.

Thank you everyone for the feedback. It's highly appreciated, even though I have slumped into a depression over the system change thing

If I'm not mistaken this was already attempted by people. I believe they couldn't get the funds together to save the building. This was discussed in great detail on MT. You'd have to really search in the archieves to find the thread but if memory serves me right there wasn't enough people to come together to keep the building.

I could probably narrow it down, as that was one of the "Creative Differences of Opinion" that lead to the establishment of the Sam Pai schools. Hmmm...The First Sam Pai school was opened in Downey, CA in 1965...so that was not too long after those ads came into being.

Question Re: There are no such things as stupid questions. . . 'cept for this one.

When was it sold, to who ? I would have thought that the family would want to keep it? Did it become unprofitable?
