Lightbulb "THE LIST" of 2nd Generation Parker Kenpoists

My Kenpo Journey began in 1970 in Menlo Park, Calif. with [then] 3rd Degree Black Belt, 1st Generation Parker Instructor Harvey Clary. Currently I am a 6th Black having received black belt ranks from both Harvey Clary and Larry Tatum. I teach in my own school and live in Idaho near my friend John Sepulveda.

I am developing "The List" of Parker Lineage 2nd Generation Kenpoists. If you are a 2nd Generation Black Belt, Please go to my website

<LccfKenpoKarate.com> and click on 2nd Generation to register. Only your name and the name of your 1st Generation Instructor will be published to the Public. Thanks.

    Respectfully,
    Phillip Hadlock

That sounds like a worthwhile project. I will try and check it out.

it was a worthless idea then, and it remains a worthless idea.
    More worthwhile endeavors would include.
A complete family tree from Ed Parker to present day Black Belts.
A complete list of Kenpo Black Belts with correct rank and date of promotions and promoting instructors.
A complete list of Kenpo Black Belts who currently run a commercial school
A complete list of Kenpo Black Belts who currently run a Club, program, or informal dojo of any regularity.
A complete list of Kenpo Black Belts and their full list of arts studied, instructors studied with, and students promoted to Black Belt.
Hell I bet there are dozens of lists you cold put together that would have much more value then a list of 2nd Generation Parker Kenpoists, it is so arbitrary with no real meaning, it actually kind of makes me want to throw up that someone thinks this is important for some reason.

Of course this comes from the same source that lists a lineage like this....

I agree. Besides, you can pull a couple hundred or more names from http://www.kenponet.com/flame/tree/index.html

Unfortunantly, he gave us 2 eyes and 10 fingers, which explains the problems we get on the internet.~Zoran

    I will say this.

It's nice now, with the internet, and google, promotions are pretty easy to track. It would be even nicer if everyone would post their promotions. A quick google on a name can find a promotion notification. I believe this is going to make it much hard to fake your way to high rank than it used to.

I believe you can find my three black belt promotions announced on this very site. This makes it exceedingly difficult for me to go back and change the history at some point in the future. It won't necessarily stop the unscrupulous from going out and creatively acquiring rank ... but the stink of B.S. will be easier to find.

( As I think about it, I do not think we posted my first degree promotion immediately after the test. It was discussed a couple of months after, though).

Lineage is nice is certain ways, and it's usually good to know where you come from, BUT, it doesn't always (or even often) indicate the state of your own knowledge and skill. Just because your teacher was the direct student and promoted to black belt by "Master A", doesn't automatically mean that he doesn't suck. And if he does suck, naturally, it doesn't mean that you do, or that you don't.

Belts, Lineage, Certs even Menkyo Kaiden systems have always been next to worthless when it comes to who has skill and knowledge and who is a fraud and that trend has continued, They are a great way to keep track of stuff in a particular organization but outside of it with standards being so different from place to place and teacher to teacher its just not a litmus test of skill and knowledge ie not something to use when looking for a good teacher.

Default "THE LIST" of 2nd Generation Parker Kenpoists

If you like to know your families ancestry, then chances are you have some similar interests in your martial arts lineage. In a few cases it might make a difference but it most, it won't. Look at it as adding "flavor" to the martial arts experience but in the end, what matters the most is your ability, your teachers knowledge and teaching ability, and how much time and effort you put into your craft. Without that, everything else is meaningless bling.
Be careful what you say, some may take it the wrong way.
