I'm curious if Chris is still developing this, or if he's now mainly involving himself in "regular" kenpo with Mr. Cole.

I'm about to lock a thread because some people can't leave well enough alone on what started out as an upbeat, positive thread. Enough already.
Be careful what you say, some may take it the wrong way.

I don't have a problem with any demographic. I just think that being nice to each other, treating and communicating with all people, despite their race or belief is a good thing.
    IDIC.
I know a lot of nice Christians. Some *******s. Same with pretty much every other group of people.
Then there are a lot of people I am not even sure I know to what deity (if any/ or to how many) they pray. And in this group: Some nice, some *******s.
    It's IMO about the person.

And when it comes to kenpo, it should be about the keno. You had contact with a school that was headed by a cult. That's sad to hear and I am sorry about that. Hope you got out of that well.

BURN THE WITCH!!! Lmao....Seriously? !?!? I joined this forum to keep in contact with fellow kenpoists. Also keeping in mind I am by definition "pagan". One of my blue belts came from a Christian based kenpo organization. I ran across many chaplins in my 20 years in the army who had at one point or another had to (gasp) deploy and operate different weapon platforms while remaining a person of faith. My blue belt comes to me for training, nothing more. A rule in my studio is, RPM. Religion, Politics, and Money are "no no" discussions. Kenpo is a diverse and in depth enough subject matter. Chris, Good luck in your endeavors and drive it like you stole it!!!! Ok, I'll shut up now

I am still developing this, website is down for a redesign. Yes I am heavily involved in "regular" kenpo. But I do it while representing my faith.

Martial arts are traditionally being practiced in a spiritual context (Buddhism, Daoism), why shouldn't that likewise be possible in a Christian context, basically. My questions to the OP:

What is the interface between Kenpo and Christianity to you? Why exactly do you make the connection?

Does your Christian faith influence your technical curriculum (do you skip or alter self-defense techniques which are potentially very damaging)?

Pardon my asking what are possibly hard questions. I am notorious for doing that. LOL

I would think it would depend on if it is

A Kenpo organization with a religious base

    or

a Religious organization that is teaching kenpo.

    A subtle but important difference.

Of course they are, but by their nature they would have very different area's of focus.

What's your point in this Mr. Bunny ? Do you condemn one and applaud the other or condemn or applaud them both ?

I'll just throw this in now. Please remember the rules regarding the discussion of religion and politics here. The questions regarding this organization are appropriate but please don't veer this in wrong direction.

    Neither really.

Though, personally, I would not be interested in a Christian orientated organization of any kind... That is not to say that such an organization does not have the right to run any association. I would simply hope that any organization religious or political would not use it's influence in one area to isolate anyone from an art that is by it's nature unaligned.

My original statement is simply a reminder that there is a difference between an organization that runs an art, and an art that attracts the like minded of a particular organization.
