    Default ascending to heaven

I am having problems with this technique. It is a very simple tech, however I am 6'2 and 280. When I lean forward to stand up it puts a lot of pressure on my ankles, which does not allow me to stand up. Am I doing this tech right, and If not can some one give me some advise on what to do differently. Thanks.

Don't feel bad, I'm 5'11" 185lbs and I have trouble with ascending to heaven.
    It is an awkward technique.

1st Dan and there are a couple of techniques I still don't feel comfortable performing. Ascending to heaven is one of those techniques.
Have you discussed this with your instructor? I'm sure he will be able to help.
In the crossed leg position, I have played with the width of my base.
But my ankles get a little sore if I practice this alot.

I seem to recall my instructor allowing an older lady who was having issues roll to a knee or use a hand on the floor (similar to version C).

I'd discuss with your instructor as not all techniques will work for everyone. I'm not a big fan of this technique because it isn't likely I'll be sitting cross legged in a hostile situation. I'd perfer to see something useful from a chair or bar stool.

Yea I completely agree. My sensei, I have 2, who does not teach me but is the dojo's sensei told me that for me only the 3rd variation would be applicable, but keep practicing the others. I never ever sit like that anyways.

I would suggest doing the technique in reverse to strengthen the ankles. Cross your feet, and try to slowly sit down.
