Default Anyone know of a good course on real estate?

    Hi Group,

I just went to a 3 day $500 buck seminar on real estate by Rich Dad Poor Dad and it was the most offensive course I've taken in my life.

It was NOT to teach us what to do BUT to UP-SELL us on one of their advanced an very high priced intensives running from $9,000 bucks to $44,000 bucks.

The first day had about 2 hours of upsells.

The second day had half the day devoted to the importance of getting the $34,000 intensive AT THE MINIMUM...

...and both me and my boy did walk out.

Now, does anyone know of a ethical home study course that covers the NEEDED materials?

    Sincerely,
    Dr. John M. La Tourrette

    Dr John,

If you had posted here ahead of time, I could have saved you $500
I believe the timing may be good to buy some real estate also.

Regarding a home course or anything, I really don't have any specific ideas for you. Except to make a relationship with a successful developer and realtor in the area of interest that you can talk with and possibly get them to provide some assistance for a person starting out in real estate investing.

    Thank you.

I'm the type that has to research before doing. That's the Metal element at work.

I did take an Al Lowry course back in 73?, and the method worked well for what I wanted back in Idaho and Colorado.

Times change and I do like the Rich Dad Poor Dad books, but that seminar? UGH.

I've just bought some Carlton Sheets materials used. I'll look at it.

Then my boy went to B&N and bought a "flipping houses for dummies" book.

I guess we are back to reading, studying and then getting the experience.

At least all you spent was $500. Back in the eighties my Father got the bright idea to buy cheap and sell high. Guess what. They spent thousands finding out that the houses get priced based on the value of the homes around them, not to mention being lied to by the sellers about the condition of the homes they bought.

    Hi Sean,

Yep. That's normal real estate tactics.

I have bought and sold 3 houses over the past 35 years, and one big piece of real estate.

I'm just attempting to find the current rules since my boy now wants to buy a home.

One thing the RDPD people did say was "find 10 pieces of property, and then when they want $300,000, offer them $110 K and see what happens."

Something about learning how to keep a straight face.

Also the part about looking for motivated sellors (many out there right now) that want to get out of their property for various reasons.

    A new learning for me.

    Thanks.

I did call and talk with one of my 12 year students who's a real estate broker and real estate investor.

She has just the thing for my boy, and she has many resources available that the general populace does not have access to.

This should be a fun learning experience for him, buying his first home, but doing it THE RIGHT WAY!

    Cool, Hunnn?

What is interesting is using her "resources" Jack has found several (5)locations that feel right to him.

Now using the tactics of negotiation that have been made available to him through RDPD, Sheets, and my realestate friend Jack has tools to make wise financial real estate decisions.

Thanks to you all for your help.
