Thanks for posting, it was a very interesting read. I've often wondered would Bruce have been as popular today if he was still alive.
Excellent book. I certainly enjoyed reading it. I appreciated the discretion with which Mr. Bleeker handled sensitive situations, yet without pulling punches. He presented a view of Bruce Lee that gave him credit for his strong points, but did not try to sugar-coat the negative aspects of his personality. He presented a well-rounded, journalistic view of the story that clearly delineated fact from theory and opinion.
Thank you Mr. Bleeker, for making this book freely available to the martial arts community in this fashion.
Salute,

I just found that book on the IKCA's website last week. Now that my finals are over I have been able to start reading it. So far, it's pretty good. I'm looking forward to really getting into the book.

The interview link no longer works, at least not for me. Upon doing a google search of Unsettled Matters, I was directed to sanjosekenpo.com where the book is posed in its entirety in .pdf format.
I didn't enjoy the reading. I don't know why though. I'm not really what is considered a Bruce Lee fan. I do have a copy of the Tao of JKD and that's about it. I know his history, seen the movies, and read the controversey. All in all, I didn't enjoy reading Unsettled Matters.
To me it seems, alot of **** said after the fact that nobody can prove right or wrong...all one perspective from one particular player, Tom Bleeker. I just don't buy it. There are quite few references in the book that are "Bruce Lee according to Tom Bleeker"; that is, no other known references to the subject except those made by the author. In the legal world, that is called hearsay.
In the end, an hour of my life I'll never get back.
Be safe,
Roach

Knew at the time? And what was that Doc?
I personally didn't find Unsettled Matters about karate politics. You care to relate the two?
The Art of War is comprised of 13 chapters with three publically known translations. You care to cite the first story you are referencing?
Your reply above wasn't directed to me so I'll understand if you choose to ignore my questions for clarification...but I hope you do not.

I enjoyed this book as well. I was lucky enough to get an autographed copy from Mr. Bleeker.
My best,
Jeff
I have started reading the book earlier this Monday, and I have only two comments regarding the above...I'm not sure that this is considered a "legal" document, and therefore is open to be able to use anything ranging from solid, documented fact to complete and utter fiction. From my reading, it seems that alot of what is presented here-in is, in fact, documentable and verifiable...if one wishes so.
The other is just a comment on the time you spent reading it...I must be a VERY slow reader...
Over all it is painting a rather darker piucture of Bruce Lee than I have heard. Although it does speak on his strong points, it seems that the lion's share of the book is about his weaknesses and mega-personal problems...but I'm not done with it yet. As noted above, I must be a slow reader.

Bruce had "demons"!?!?! "Weaknesses"!?!!
....my God....
...maybe Bruce was human after all? Perish the thought!

I missed this thread first time around. Thanks for bringing it forward!
