    Default Corny Thread

I felt "Humor" was the best place for this because when it occured to me it made me chuckle.

You ever hear a song you've heard a thousand times before but just then actually listened to it and realize, "hey...that song's not too bad....actually...it's kinda...well.....good!" Well, that happened to me this morning.

I was tuned in to my Sirius radio when "Drive" by Incubus came on. I've heard it many times before but never paid a lot of attention to the lyrics. When I did, it occured to me that they were applicable to how I feel about the "spirit" of Kenpo. My attitude has changed drastically over the years from my youth and I contribute a great deal of it to my Kenpo training. It's not all physical ya know!

Anyway, I know this is a bit corn-ball, but as Amy is so fond of pointing out I am a bit of a "goober" sometimes. Here are the lyrics for your reading pleasure. Feel free to chime in on "what" about this may have made you chuckle or if you think the lyrics are applicable.

Sometimes, I feel the fear of,
    uncertainty stinging clear.
And I can't help but ask
myself how much I'll let the fear
    take the wheel and steer.

It's driven me before, and it seems to a faint,
    haunting mass appeal.
But lately I, am beginning to find that I,
should be the one behind the wheel.

    Chorus

Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there,
with open arms and open eyes, yeah.
Whatever tomorrow brings, I'll be there,
    I'll be there....

So if I, decide to waiver my,
chance to be one of, the hive.
Will I, choose water over wine
and hold my own and drive?

It's driven me before, and it seems to be the way,
    that everyone else gets around,
But lately I'm, beginning to find that,
When I drive myself my light is found.
"It is sobering to reflect that one of the best ways to get yourself a reputation as a dangerous citizen these days is to go about repeating the very phrases which our founding fathers used in the struggle for independence." Charles A. Beard
