    Default Words Women Use

    FINE
This is the word women use to end an argument when they are right and
    you need to shut up.

    FIVE MINUTES
If she is getting dressed, this is half an hour. Five minutes is only
five minutes if you have just been given 5 more minutes to watch the game before helping around the house.

    NOTHING

This is the calm before the storm. This means "something," and you
should be on your toes. Arguments that begin with 'Nothing' usually end in
    "Fine."

    GO AHEAD
This is a dare, not permission. Don't do it.

    LOUD SIGH
This is not actually a word, but is a non-verbal statement often
misunderstood by men. A "Loud Sigh" means she thinks you are an idiot and wonders why she is wasting her time standing here and arguing with you over "Nothing"

    THAT'S OKAY
This is one of the most dangerous statements that a woman can make to
a man. "That's Okay" means that she wants to think long and hard before
deciding g how and when you will pay for your mistake.

    THANKS
A woman is thanking you. Do not question it or faint. Just say you're
    welcome.

I have survived all of these words. Maybe a few red badges of courage along the way, but I survived.

Red face Re: Words Women Use

"Do whatever you want" does not mean that you should do whatever you want. Unless you want to do what she says. Then it does mean that. However, if what you wanted was what she told you to want, she wouldn't even have to tell you to 'do whatever you want' in the first place.

As far as the 5 minute thing goes, we can turn that one around. For example, if there are 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter, how long until you can take out the trash? "There's only 5 minutes left" I tell her and she asks "is that real 5 minutes or football 5 minutes". Now I can say that's a "getting ready to go out 5 minutes" and she MIGHT actually understand.

But I think my wife perceives time differently than most. For example if I am at the dojo from 10am-2pm, that is "gone all day" and the "day is practically over" when I get home.

    ok a serious response....

My wife got a copy of "the Proper Care and Feeding of Husbands" about 6 months ago this kind of thing is far behind us. And life is Very Good for EVERYONE now. I would have never gotten it for her but somehow she ended up with it. Now, even when I KNOW she is using a trick from that book to manipulate me and get what she wants, it still works. The gist of it seems to be - you can get whatever you want from your husband if you look pretty and talk sweet. It's GOT TO BE more complicated than that but I am afraid to read it myself.

That sounds like a GREAT book. And no, it's really not more complicated than that. Men are simple creatures, thank God.

The other good one is 'whatever'. That means you're in trouble no matter what you say.

I went to a 3-day seminar with a guy who does...well...3-day seminars on relationship for men and women (seperately), and won't tell each what he tells the other. He did allude, however, that this was the gist of the womens weekend; that men are painfully simple, and a smile with some smoke will turn our minds and refocus our behavior everytime. Regrettably, I have yet to live with a woman willing to try this approach. I've ALWAYS said to each lady-friend as we start dating, "For my Queen, anything. For the crab on the couch "over there", you're on your own".

Ah well. It's a search, and a journey.

Today is our 2nd anniversary and I actually picked up the phone and called her to say "Happy Anniversary" before she called me. Saturday I had reservations at a romantic restaurant, private booth, flowers and champagne waiting at the table. Yes I have about 3 million brownie points right now.

I think I am responding not so much to the actual sweet-talking and little affections but to the effort she is putting forward to try to interact with me that way. My wife is naturally a hell-raising fire-b!tc# of the toughest kind (in a good way of course!!! ) but she really really just wants to make me happy. How could I possibly fight her on it?!?!?!?!?
